Lighting the Path to Truth and Reconciliation

This film was created by indigenous Leadership Team of the Saskatchewan Catholic School Boards Association (SCSBA), in partnership with the Saskatchewan Knights of Columbus Charitable Foundation. It celebrates Catholic Education Week. It is rooted in the theme Pilgrims of Hope. We reflect on our shared journey of Faith, Truth, and Reconciliation.

We are called to live Christ's mission as pilgrims of hope in our families, schools, and communities. We are asked to be witnesses of our faith through actions, compassion, and truth.

Across Saskatchewan, the eight Catholic school divisions are walking the path of Truth and Reconciliation. Rooted in our Catholic faith and guided by Indigenous ways of knowing, we are embracing this journey with authenticity; not only in words, but in meaningful experiences created for staff and students alike.

The fire in the video calls us to come together. We are reminded to tend the flame with care. In time, it will share its warmth to heal us and light to lead us on a journey towards Truth and Reconciliation. The fire calls each of us to take part because reconciliation is not a moment, it is a mission we must carry forward together.

May this video inspire you to light your own fire, to walk this shared path, and to live Christ's mission with hope, humility, and love.

Creator God,

We give thanks for the breath of life and the sacred ground beneath our feet. You who shaped the mountains and the rivers, who speak through the rustle of trees and the song of the eagle, guide our hearts to walk gently on this land. May we remember the wisdom of our ancestors, who saw your hand in every sunrise and your Spirit in every living thing.

Jesus, our Brother and Saviour,

You came to walk among us, to heal our wounds, and carry our burdens. help us to live in harmony with one another and with all of creation. May the Spirit strengthen our people, restore what has been broken, and lead us in the path of reconciliation, love, and peace.

Amen.
